This building is the former St George's Catholic Church built in 1855 to the design of architects George & Schneider and extended in 1866 through the addition of the transepts. Used as a church hall for many years, it was adapted for use as the chapel of Corpus Christi College which is a centre for the training of Catholic priests opened in 2000.1 The William Anderson organ built for this building was moved into the adjacent Sacred Heart Church in 1897.
The organ was built in 1978 by Geo.Fincham & Sons Pty Ltd using actions and windchests imported from J.W. Walker & Sons Ltd, Brandon, Suffolk. It was initially installed in the previous seminary building at Clayton and installed at Carlton in 2000 by Wakeley Pipe Organs Pty Ltd.
