The foundation stone of the Church of Our Lady of the Nativity was laid on 29 October 1967 and the building opened in the following year. The architect was S.J. Moran, of North Balwyn, and the builder M.P. Arbon & Co. It was designed in a modern style with elliptical side walls and focussing upon the sanctuary.1

The organ was the most substantial example of a single-manual model organ without pedals built by the Fincham firm at the time, with four rather than the more usual three ranks, including an unenclosed Open Diapason 8ft. It incorporates an asymmetrical burnished zinc façade.
