The present church was designed by prominent architect Sir Eric von Schramek in 1970. It incorporates stained glass from the earlier church in central Adelaide.

Built for the previous church, in Wakefield Street, the first pipe organ was built by J.W. Wolff and opened on 13 April 1877.1 Parts of this organ (including pipework and drawstops) were utilised by J.E. Dodd for its successor, which was opened on 7 June 1901.2 This was a two-manual instrument of 16 speaking stops. The organ was installed in its present location in 1970 behind a new case. Many of the gilded façade pipes are now located inside the instrument which remains substantially in original condition.3
