The Newcastle Conservatorium of Music was upgraded significantly in the 1980s with the completion of additional teaching facilities and a new performance hall. This work was undertaken as a Bicentennial prroject. Two new pipe organs have enhanced the facilities tremendously and these were constructed to schemes devised by the organist, Michael Dudman, who was the Dean and Director at that time, before his untimely death.



The Performance Hall Organ was built by Knud Smenge (Melbourne) in 1988:
